[Hubert hasn't found a real reason to indulge. Don't get him wrong, he's appreciative and all for the festival. However, he fancies himself grown up for most activities and booths the event has to offer (though that's a lie, because he wants to play except his "pride" won't allow him), and he can't quite bring himself to simply relax and enjoy the occasion.

That would explain why all he does is walk around the plaza, only stopping now and then to observe everything from a distance. In short, he's being boring, and doesn't look like he's having fun if the lack of a smile is anything to go by.

Of course, those who know him well enough would realize that this is fairly natural behavior from him.]

[ Except Sophie is going to come over to him now and she is going to brighten up his day with her presence. Maybe seeing his sister happy will in turn make him happy too.

[ Maybe! For now, he regards her with his usual expression as he turns in Sophie's direction. ]

Sophie. . . . How is the festival?

It's nice. [ Smile, smile. ] Do you like it?

[ That's good. At least she's enjoying herself. ]

[ She cocks her head to the side. ]

Have you had ice cream yet?

[ Ice cream . . . What their father was pigging out on. ]

[Hubert, it makes your mother a little sad that you aren't indulging yourself in at least doing some of the activities. Never mind that she acted the same way many times, perhaps that is where her learned this behavior.]

Aren't you going to take part in anything?

[It totally is. He greets Tear with a nod, then he glances at the busier part of the festival from their viewpoint. He turns back to her.]

Not for the time being.

Why not? The festival only happens once a year, you realize. [She'll be joining you in walking about the festival now, enjoying the brief reprieve from the abundance of energy.]

Precisely. To be frank, there are already more than enough people.

Will you wait until the evening, then? [When less people can spot you actually having fun?]

Will I take part in some of the activities, you mean? [Quite a number of the booths are catching her interest, but just like Hubert she feels it's too childish to take part in some of them.]
