[That animal... As Marica passes by with a meat skewer in hand, she actually does a double-take at the dog sitting and staring at the trees, looking as thoughtful as a ball of fluff could ever get. Despite her better discretion, she slows and isn't quite able to look away.

That level of cuteness is... almost kind of absurd.]

[Japan is still looking up at the cherries, but Pochi notices someone staring at him and looks over at the stranger. He yips and turns around so he can better see her in order to be polite.

Hearing the noise, Japan turns his head and is startled to see someone watching.]

A-ah...hello.

O-Oh, hi! Sorry, I didn't mean to... stare... [oh man that thing is even cuter when it's looking at her]

Ah-! No, it's... It's alright. Please, do not worry about it.

[Pochi wags his tail and just looks up at her. Meanwhile, Japan bows his head and motions to the blanket he has spread out.]

Would you like to join us?

[She's looking at Japan, but she can't stop glancing at Pochi. Wh-What is this?]

Um... Sure, why not? [She carefully moves to sit down. Next to the dog, of course.] I'm Marica, by the way.

[The dog scoots over a bit to keep proper distance, but otherwise just looks up at her, still thumping his little tail a bit. Japan bows and Pochi does the same.]

Japan. It is an honor to meet you, Marica-san. ...This is my dog, Pochi-kun.

[Ah, he's so polite. Bowing, bowing.]

Nice to meet you, Japan. And nice to meet you too, Pochi-kun. [She gives him a bow too to be on the safe side.]

[When she bows to Pochi, the dog bows back. As well as a dog can.]

Is it your first time to enjoy the cherry blossoms?

Y-Yes, I think so. We don't have any trees like this in my world.

Well, it's true that they're really pretty. I'm a little surprised at how many people are here just to look at them, though.

They're nice, but are they really that special?

They embody a principle of impermanence and beauty in my country... I suppose that is why. They herald the coming spring, but as it warms, the blossoms must fall and they never experience warm days themselves.

Oh... How sad. [She looks up at the trees. Do your best, little cherry blossoms.]

Their brevity is part of their charm, however.

So we celebrate them, with picnics and enjoying the warming weather.
