[Nevermind the damn tree. Sanji's more interested in the fruit, when he spots them hanging. He willingly approaches for a closer look, drawn by a chef's disposition that quickly kills off suspicion once he's right underneath the heavy branches. After a quick bite of hesitance... he picks one that is bright red and the paler cousin for comparison, rolling them in his hands and checking for plumpness.

Oh, if only he knew he was holding weapons of mass destruction. And why the urge to eat them both...]

[Yeah that fruit is hanging unfinished in his hand. He doesn't know what finishing it would do. But he'd be lying if he didn't admit the difference between fruits didn't intrigue him.

And he can't help smirking at that remark] Could be worse things, I guess. A little too similar for comfort, though. [he looks mistrustfully up at the tree]

[Wasting food on his watch? Scandalous. Sanji will just take the half-finished bit and nom it down, then. Chances are he won't want to eat anymore than that once his common sense kicks back in.

... Whatisthis. Staring at the fruit, then at Ginko]

[If sudden and loud alarm bells just went off in his head, it's impossible to tell by his face. All he looks is concerned] Not sick already, are you? [he sits down next to him]

[lasdhfaoshifa W-wait, why are you sitting down now? He liked you standing! Less clamminess on his hands then]

Of course not! It's just fruit. [Which he is abruptly not eating. Nor is he really looking at Ginko, instead choosing to stare up at the tree]

... I mean, it's not like it did anything to you, right?

Hmmm. [give him half a second to consider the moral implications of an outright lie. Why does it feel like half of his brain is watching to other half do things on its own? He leans back] Well, I told you not to eat strange things. [a half grin that works across his face despite himself] Maybe we'll just quietly drop dead in an hour or so.

... You're almost as bad as Robin-chan, you know that?

Some of us are just realistic. [or fatalistic. Which is the theme of the day, at this point. He leans back against the weird, weird tree. All the easier to avoid eye contact.]

Why not pick something more cheerfully realistic? [Yes, less eye contact is a good thing today. Except it leaves Sanji with the uncomfortable realization that this conversation is so... normal. Considering the oddness of the effects he's wrestling with.

... Side-glance.]

[eye half-closed, he just shrugs] In this place-- are you kidding? [he raises an eyebrow at him]

[Okaaaaaay, pointedly looking away again. Where the hell are his cigarettes?]

Just tryin' to liven up the atmosphere. [glances at his unfinished fruit... and remembering his creed has never been so problematic. He twitches a little and starts to finish it]

[dryly, watching him finish it (guess it can't have that much of an effect)] It's already so unseasonably lively I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the enclosure decided it was spring, too.
