[Stranger, in her kitchen, trying to shank her. Great -- just what she needs. Only that in some twisted respect it is exactly the kind of thing that Buffy needs. It is too difficult to rail against near-invisible enemies and too tough to sit back and just wait for Willow to be given back to them. Buffy has always solved problems with her fists and when she doesn't get to use them? She gets antsy. So do go ahead and pardon the slight smug enjoyment she gets from efficiently deflecting the stabbed blade with the side of a forearm

They never d--[her words choke out for bit of a gurgled sound of pain.

Up comes her knee, rather sharply. She is keen on targeting Nina's gut today.]

[She takes it, now all the more certain that the wings are a weak point here for some reason. Condense nerve endings? Maybe, Either way, gritting her teeth, she tries to concentrate to see if she can't get her T5 abilities to light them up but-

...Not working? Or at least, it's harder than it should be...

No time, she just tightens her grip on the wing]

[...God, that hurts. But Buffy is stubborn and will not give in to crude torture technique. She can already feel the cuts on her stomach beginning to heal and that heartens her fighting resolve.]

That's no way to talk to a new friend, is it? [Gritting her teeth, Buffy shoves hard in order to try and extract herself from the monster's grip. If only she could remember her name...]

[See, that is either a mistake or a good thing depending on how you look at it. See, because while Buffy gets free, Nina got a consolation prize: a small fistful of feathers. At least two or three. Feeling a little sick, Buffy? You might. She drops them on the ground and in the same movement grabs hold of the plate the half-made sammich was on to toss that at the blonde's head.

Again, she doesn't expect it to connect, but if she keeps laying on the offensive, she might make some progress.]

I dunno, I handle a lot of friends like this.

[Oh, yeah. Not feeling well at all. She can feel herself become sluggish and she fights against that feeling as best as she can. She blocks the plate with her make-shift pan weapon and briefly notices the ridiculous level of domesticity involved in this fight. Ugh, her non-existent kingdom for one of the weapons back in her chest. But it's not like she can put the whole thing on pause just to go to her room.

Nose to the grindstone to overcome how far losing the feathers has knocked her back, Buffy launches into a vicious roundhouse kick, aiming as high on the woman as she can.]

Must be a small social circle. Tell me, how many have you even got left?

[Kicks are risky, which is why Nina doesn't like to use them that much. Mostly because you can do things like wrap an arm around the leg to try to hold it in place. Which is exactly what she does. She gets a solid impact and strain on her arms because of it, but now she's ideally got Buffy trapped.

...And she could try to break her leg, but now it's starting to dawn on her that this might not be needed. ...Well, possibly. Depends on her temper. And if Buffy's strength can worm or force the leg out of her hold. She did, after all, take a blow from the kick and it shows in her gritting her teeth]

Enough, I'd say. You already said we're pushing that boundary, right?

[...Buffy partially predicted that her kick would be caught. It is, as Nina surmised on her own, a common risk in roundhouse kicks. So she hopes to use the grip to her advantage and bends her knee. She is put slightly off balance but can possibly haul Nina closer to her.]

I'm already BFFs with one redhead. Don't you think two would be going a little too far?

I'm not a natural; that help?

[Oh, hauling? That is a daring strategy that the alien here actually respects. She's pulled, but by now she's just smirking. Yeah, she's pissed and she'll probably take it out on someone, but at least this is getting to be fun again]

Barely.

[Abandoning the frying pan in favour of, well, her fists. Hauling still and hoping to drag the intruder into her range so she can land a few punches.]

[...And. then she lets go of the leg. This will (she hopes) cause Buffy to over-balance so she can slam into the woman once she's fallen, but that seems too obvious. There's no way the blonde will fall for that, right? Either way, she's going to take that instant of delay to arm herself.

...In the form of morphing one of her hands into something which probably looks like nothing so much as a werewolf's paw-claw-hand thing. It's actually a rhall's hand, but they look like werewolves aside from having three fingers and one thumb]

You realize that I am totally not the reason you're here, right?

[It looks as though--for a good few seconds--she might be toppled out of balance. There is a brief amount of arm flailing and then a small and and bam back to stable.

...But now she's eying that arm and oh, crap. Great. Another one of those you have to reach for your weapon and i don't kind of situations. Though...she did feel something strange about the elbow before--but had no way to really notice what was going on. Not as distinctly as she does now.]

You know, I'd been starting to guess that. [And... respite over. With crazy eyes (tm) the clawed hand in going in (as is the rest of her body) to try to rip in at Buffy. It's a clumsy strike: it's been years since she fought as rhall. But then, what with it having extra reach and horribly long claws, that doesn't matter that much. It ought to get some damage on her somewhere, even if she tries to deflect. Failing that, it'll rip up the cupboards something awful]

But now you said it, I've got reason to doubt you.

I'm just as much of a prisoner as you are. Though, admittedly? Probably less of a psychiatric ward patient. Which is totally saying something, considering my bag-o-traumas.

[Oh, it gets her right on the left arm and it tears quite deeply. Buffy grunts but doesn't cry out, though the blood blossoms freely. Instead, she looks to get her right elbow up as high as possible and quickly jam it up against some of Nina's lower ribs. Seeing that serious-business morphed hand makes her want to aim for somewhere a little squishier.]

Oh you have no idea. [With a cruel little laugh, even. She takes the blow, and though she staggers (hell, Buffy might have broken a rib) she presses the attack instead. The claws dig in now as she presses in with them and... then the other hand goes to see if it can't grab Buffy's throat]

[Always the throat. If Buffy wasn't so busy trying not to get turned even more into swiss cheese, she would feel indignant over how her throat seems to be some kind of constant target. But no time for indignation! Need those precious seconds to figure out how to disengage from a frankly rather psychotic New Feather who is actually a repeat New Feather because--oh, even though those fingers are tightening on her throat the penny drops and Buffy remembers the name!]

Nina! [She rasps, half-surprised at herself.]
