Sitting alone by himself was nothing new to Luke, but he couldn't say he wasn't bored. Waiting for Guy to return with Asch was making him restless; he had wanted to help, but his friend had told him to stay put. There wasn't much he could do if he couldn't find Guy.

Why he had decided to let Master Van come over was something that was still escaping him. Perhaps it was because here there was nothing to fight over. He wasn't necessarily comfortable around his former teacher. But if all he wanted to do was talk, there was no reason to turn him away.

When he heard the knock, Luke got up from his chair and went over to the door. He grasped the handle, took a breath, and turned it. He swung the door open.

When the door opened, Van smiled. There would most likely be no joy in this, but a smile always made things easier. "Hello, Luke. It's been a long time."

He stepped in and slowly shut the door behind him. "I was hoping that you'd be able to answer a few questions, if you don't mind." His words were soft, like the way he spoke to Luke before. Hopefully it would make everything proceed more smoothly.

Silence was about all Luke for manage for a minute as he stared at Van. What had happened to him? Luke's eyes fell on Van's right arm, and then moved over to the left. Shock was clearly written all over the young boy's face.

The boy backed up, allowing his teacher inside. After a second, he gave a small nod, "S-Sure..."

Noticing Luke's expression, Van glanced down at his right arm, the fonic energy just barely pulsing through it. The pulse had been much weaker since he had arrived in this place.

Looking back up at Luke, he gave a humorless chuckle. "I'll explain that in time.

"For now, there's something else we must discuss." Van paused for a few moments, thinking over his response before speaking again. "You've changed, haven't you?" The Luke he had fought against on Eldrant was a different person from the replica he had trained in Fabre's Manor. Stronger, wiser; someone that Van could respect. A little, at any rate.
