His sleeve's sticking to his wrist again.
Shouldering his way into the building, Allen briefly manages to balance the stack of books and uses the opportunity to tug it neat before stepping inside. The door swings shut. In a heartbeat, the pressure of the oppressive heat vanishes, and Allen exhales. It's the minor distractions that keep him grounded: choosing books in the library, keeping a careful tally of the paths so as not to get lost-and now the coolness inside building two, a stark contrast to the heat rolling the world over outside. His usual gear isn't faring so well in the Luceti summer.
So far, though, Allen's surviving. As far as he's concerned, that puts him ahead.
He takes the steps two by two, Timcampi always ahead of him in humming motions-look, the golem seemed to communicate, I have wings and I'm nowhere silly enough to wear a waistcoat in sunshine! No wonder I'm faster!-and winds up making good time to door 17. Absently, Allen shifts the books back to one arm, palms his forehead with a gloved hand, then knocks--quick, even beats--until someone answers.
