PRE-BATTLE PREPARATIONS

[You hero types have your last minute battle prep here. Talk amongst each other, go over the plan, what have you. This can probably take place on the way to the mountains or maybe even in the grocery store like Luffy planned.]

[He gives her a nod, trying to put on his warrior face.]

Hey. You ready?

[markofthebrave]

[That's not working, Sokka. She knows you too well. Katara faces you straight on. And this time? It's not to ask you what's wrong. It's too late for that now.]

If you're not here with me, go home.

[markofthewise]

[He slides on his warrior helmet. His means business, Katara.]

Katara. It's me. I don't take my problems on the battlefield.

[markofthebrave]

[Katara gives him a measuring glance. Don't think she won't leave you iced here if you can't convince her.]

You'd better not. [She does not like this possibility of them going to fight separated. At all. Who's going to watch his back?] This is important, Sokka. [You need to come back alive.]

[markofthewise]

[And who's going to watch hers? He doesn't trust Sanji that much. Not at all. But it's too late to try and change the plan now.]

Don't worry. I can handle myself out there. [He holds up a hand and snaps his fingers, producing a small flame.] I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve. And then some. [But if he can't be with her, he can at least help out. While she answers, he's got a few things to give her.]

[She starts a little at the flame. He hadn't mentioned that he'd learned to use fire. She's not sure how she feels about that... but she locks it away.]

Don't get too complicated. [Just come back safe.]

[markofthewise]

[He disregards that remark. Complicated is what Sokka does. So commence with the supplies.] I don't know if this will come in handy, but... [He offers her a coil of rope.] And take some of these. Maybe if Aku can't see, he can't attack. [He offers some hand made smoke bombs.] ... and I was going to wait on this, but...

[He pulls out a knife tucked away in its own little scabbard. It may not be made out of bone, but its definitely Water Tribe design. The blade even has the moon emblem engraved on it.] Just in case, right?

[markofthebrave]

[Surprised delight.] Sokka! You made this? It's beautiful.

[She draws the knife out of the sheath and examines the blade before sliding it back into its sheath, a happy light on her face - and for a moment she's just a kid who's brother actually made her something.]

[markofthewise]

[He'll just do his best to act casual about it. It's not like he'd been saving it for her birthday, but hadn't actually worked out when her birthday was in this place due to her being four months behind him or anything. He's just naturally aloof about the whole thing.]

Just something I worked on in my spare time, that's all. Don't go losing it.

[markofthebrave]

Right. [She slides the knife back into the sheath and works it into her belt. She doesn't hug him. Consider it a thank you.]

I'm not the one who loses things, Mister 'Where Did the Salt Go.'

[markofthewise]

Yeah, yeah. [He waves it off. No hugs yet, but he's not going to risk a non-manly embrace by being sentimental. So he goes serious again.]

You bring everyone back safe, alright? [And bring yourself back, more importantly. He'd tell her to run and leave them at the sign of danger, but it wouldn't do any good. And he'd just get a lecture for it. Besides, he still hasn't worked out how to mute her with Kipinn yet.]

[markofthebrave]

[And she sobers.] You come back safe too.

[Because she? Is allowed to be selfish. He's not. That's just the way her mind works. She meets his gaze firmly.] We can do this.

[She gets a nod.]
