[Toboe has resolved to staying indoors, after being poisoned yesterday. He is laying on the couch, nice and cozy, when a malodorous smell drifts into his nose. His ears perk up and he looks out the window to see a fog rolling in. He would have thought nothing of, but he could have sworn he saw Lyra in it. He runs to the window.]

Lyrra! Lyra!

((OOC: I am assuming Toboe's in wolf form. If he's not, please let me know and I'll change this. ^^; ))

[L thought he heard someone crying a name as he was passing, and he stiffens as he recognizes a shape he knows he fears. Ever since he was a child, he's been afraid of dogs, and wolves are certainly no better, if not worse. He isn't near enough the red fog to feel its ill effects, but he does see the old lady with the handkerchief bending over him.]

Be careful!

[It's unclear which of them he's calling to. They could both be monsters, they could both be trying to harm the other. He picks up a large stick lying near the base of a tree, gripping it in his thin hands defensively.]

[[ooc: Yes, he is in wolf form ^^]]

[Toboe looks at L, his ears perking up. The old lady quickly covers his eyes with the cloth and tries to stab Toboe's eyes out with her thumbs. He lets out a yelp and pulls away from her. One of his eyes is bleeding, but she hadn't gouged it out. He tries taking a deffensive stance too, but really he looks more afraid than fierce. He looks at L thinking he might protect him, and after a moment he runs and hides behind him.]

[Being frightened of dogs and wolves and hating them are two entirely different things. It brings L no joy to see a human trying to hurt an animal, and that's all it takes for him to single out the monster in the scene before him. Especially when the wolf hides behind him; it's oddly empowering, to know that something sees him as strong and relies on him for protection; it calls to mind his role in his home world, as a detective who rightfully caught those deserving of punishment.

He approaches the old woman warily, knowing that she probably can't harm him unless she gets close enough to embrace him.

Poor boy. Why is your mind so often on death? Are you afraid? You mustn't be afraid to die, it happens to every human, so long as they remain human... let me dry your eyes, dearie, I'll protect you from evil things like wolves...He hits her quickly and decisively over the head with his stick, with enough force to daze her rather soundly. It's the first time he's ever struck a woman, and the first time he's used that much force to ( ... )

[Toboe's ears are down, he looks rather pitiful and harmless.]

Thank you...

[He says that softly. His voice is laced with sadness and is strained, like when someone cries. He walks a little closer to L, but stops before getting to close. He knows some humans don't trust wolves, and he doesn't want to scare him.]
