Rating: T [Massive angst and other such dark things]
Summary: Gilbert has closed himself off this last while and as such, too much time to think. When the Distortion hits this time, it's taken too much and he tries to end his life.

Another gloomy distortion. Clouds darkened to black and the winds grew strong and cold. The world became something much more cruel. Yet nothing changed. Vincent's eyes were already so tinted with shades of black that he couldn't even see the difference other people feared. The monsters were no different than the demons he faced day in and day out. His world was but a small hell. The world that had once been so large and full of hope and promise, he had burnt to the ground long ago, burning all the bridges behind him. Even if this world turned itself upside down, Vincent probably wouldn't be any the wiser. There were days he didn't know which way was up and which was down. The only way he managed to find which way was "forward", was by following in the footsteps of his older brother Gilbert. In this world of his own making, there was an abundance of darkness ( ... )

It was like he was in a trance. And he wasn't sure if he wanted to wake up... wasn't sure he wanted to ask...

Because he wasn't sure if the answers... wasn't sure if what would come wouldn't break him anyway.

The moment itself was painful. The tears themselves felt painful, pricking and stinging his eyes. But there was a feeling that was capable of wiping all that clean. It erased the burning in his throat, the tightness in his chest, the ache of his heart and the sting in his eyes. For a brief moment, all the feelings were wiped clean off the slate when he heard his brother say his name... his name, and hug him. In that moment of clarity, Vincent's arms came up, almost of their own accord, and his hands clung to the fabric of Gilbert's coat as he clung to him as if for dear life. It was warm there, pressed up against Gilbert's chest, with Gilbert's arms around him, as if shielding him. The crushing feelings didn't stay away long though. Knowing this warm feeling brought them back, and this time it was as if the pain had increased two-fold ( ... )
