( what came before )

'shit...a healer?' the mere thought of someone scanning him sent him into a near panic mode. If anyone who was even slightly competant with magic were too look at his heart, they would have to see the anomoly around his heart. "Lady Kairi!" He called. Panicked, he ignored Alladin's hand and went to go after Kairi...

The wisk of air solidifying was enough to swirl her hair all the way around her face. Spinning, spitting out the locks, she looked wide-eyed at Kefka sprawled on the ground. Some of the crowd stopped and stared at him in mute wonder.

"What the hell?!" he bellowed as he stood up, the watchers scurried away into the crowd of passing people, leaving the three of them alone in the crowd.

What the hell indeed..

And then he muttered Riku's name in a way that made her shiver for a moment. Anger, rage. What did Riku have to...

...He was with Kefka the last time she had seen either of them. Kefka had held a certain interest in her friend, and Riku a brimming dispassion for the man. She walked over to Kefka, who's face was cringed in pain.

"We really need to get you to a healer."

Things were getting worse and worse. Aladdin focused his attention on the crowd. Some of these people recognized him and could identify him, seeing that he was one of the only princes that made the effort to form an actual connection with the commonfolk. While Kairi was dealing with Kefka, he made his best effort to calm everyone down and assure them that nothing was wrong and they weren't in danger ( ... )

Aladdin definatly had the right intuition there, because the moment Kairi started reflexivly moving towards Kefka, a sort of searing pain emenated from his heart, spreading through his entire chest, causing him only to clutch harder. He gave Aladdin a thankful look, which for once was an honest emotion, but at this distance he was able to stand on his own.

"No, i think...i think I know what ails me." He gave Kairi a significant look. He'd have to dance carefully here. For some reason it seemed important that he keep Riku's identity from the Prince that was standing next to him.

He caught Kairi's eyes and held them with a piercing gaze. "I know exactly who did this to me." 'though perhaps not how...' "And only he can cure this." For further emphasis of this, Kefka pretended another shot of pain, contorting his face ( ... )

"Ahh..." He wanted her to contact Riku? Last she knew, he was mad at her, enough to haven't have contacted her since then.

But, but wait. Riku did this? How could he have possibly done something to Kefka, a powerful, skilled mage? Granted, Riku was a good fighter, really good to have survived so long in this war, but just... how?

She nodded, returning his gaze. She didn't know what was going on, but Riku and her tutor had something to do with it. Best she could do was to heed Kefka's wishes, maybe talk to Riku in the interim.

"I'll try."
