ADVENTtire . Traverse Town . Completed

Dec 15, 2005 20:32

Illogically, sleep was peaceful. For once in this town Cloud had gotten a decent amount of rest with no interruption. There were no odd lucid dreams about his own experiences for once, and from some loophole in good karma that meant no dreams about chairs. Instead he woke up well rested, albeit a little bit disoriented as it took him a second to ( Read more... )

Unlike Cloud, Zell wasn’t graced with a dreamless sleep. He distinctly recalled blurred footsteps approaching him, and a voice that seemed far away, as though it wasn’t there. He remembered shifting (dream or reality he couldn’t quite recall) and the colors rippling a moment before correcting themselves. There was then an utterance of disgust that seemed much closer now. He could make out the word “hobo ( ... )

Least to say Cloud didn't look very shocked by the reaction when Zell woke up.. Less than mirthful about being checked over. Instead of giving the same frenzied reaction to match, he watched with a rather maladroit expression, patiently waiting for whenever Zell would calm himself and stop flailing around. Seemed kind of.. jumpy. Understandable considering the atmosphere of Traverse Town; having someone leer over at first sight was probably unnerving. "Right.." trailing off at the end with the slightest bit of untainted cynicism laced within the single word---What did Zell expect lying in the middle of the Waterway in a heap?

Instead of explaining himself Cloud stood to his vertical disposition once more, tossing his red scarf over his shoulder to keep it out of the way. Since Zell was conveniently up, might as well say what he hadn't yesterday. Straight to the point without hesitation. "I wanted to say thanks before I left." Oh. Right. Had to be direct with Zell. So rather haphazardly, Cloud sloppily pointed to his sword.

Zell quickly jumped to his feet and dusted his shorts, figuring he was awake now whether he liked it or not. Cloud was right; direct was the way to go with Zell. He frowned at first, the comment not really registering. Even with the gesture to the man’s sword, he had to pause a moment before it came into recognition.

“That? No sweat.” He shrugged dismissively. Retrieving a sword from atop a cabinet wasn’t really that big of a deal, after all, even if it was an attack cabinet from hell.

As time progressed and he became more awake, he began to become aware of the general lack of contents in his stomach. Considering how long the “days” in Traverse this far had proven to be, that just wasn’t very acceptable. Though he had to admit that is more of an appetite for food than genuine hunger.

“I need a snack or something,” he announced. “You wanna come along?” After all, they were now partners, thanks to Aerith. They might as well get used to each other.

With that said, Cloud didn't plan on sticking around too much longer. After all, he'd pretty much scared Zell witless so there wasn't any more damage to be done. As far as what to do now, probably go and make sure his old room wasn’t inhabited; if it wasn't, freely forfeit it for the seclusion of the room he’d found upstairs ( ... )

“Ah, maaan.” Zell had to hang his head in defeat. Silently, he dragged himself to his feet and snatched the broom and dustpan from the redhead. Not because he was told, of course. No way. He was just being a nice guy. It was nothing but a ruse. Really! He was just looking helpful while plotting revenge for the untimely demise of that innocent hotdog.

Always the innocent ones that suffered.

Cloud just stared in utter cynicism. For wanting them to clean the place, the bartender wasn't doing a great job of keeping it as such by dropping food on the floor. Though he didn't comprehend the method for this. Seemed like the Reno he remembered from back then, going behind him just to make a mess about everything he tried to clean just to make him have longer shifts. Well, if Zell thought it good enough to start cleaning up, might as well help him out instead of just watching him work. This could be like.. Overtime or something. Cloud sighed, and began to accompany the clean-up by tipping the tables right-side-up, and putting the chairs in the right way. Kinda resembled his old job a little too much..

Finally getting the hang of it. Reno was busy around the counter, griping to himself because that hot dog he dropped on the floor was the last one. Hopefully the hotdog kid didn't flip his shit when he found out that minor detail. When he tossed the thing, he was supposed to catch the damned thing. Sheesh. Apparently he didn't get that. Oh well. Reno resided to supervise the other two, quite pleased when the whatever-his-name-blonde decided to help out. "Good." A little nod of approval and he went on ordering around, "That's it. Now you're being a good hotdog boy." reno leaned against the counter, "You better not miss anything either or you’ll rank will plummet to "chicken bitch". Wouldn’t want that, now would we?"

Oh, fucking hell.

It was bad enough that he had to clean the place. It was slightly worse that Reno had thrown a perfectly good hotdog on to the floor. But calling him chicken bitch? That was just pushing all reasonable limits.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!" The response was immediate, and above all else, angry.

That little bitch was going to pay.

For now though, he'd try to clam his nerves and clean up. Getting in another brawl wasn't going to help his chances for food. So, fists clenched tightly, he tried to block Reno out and do his little job. Just how well the blocking worked was yet to be determined.

He busied himself tiding up the floors, which in all, was less horrible than he had initially thought it would be. There was a lot of dust bunnies, in one area there was a questionably dark and smelly substance, there were a lot of spills, but it all, it wasn't that bad ( ... )
