Kefka leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. He hated showing weakness, and that battle with that...stranger...had hurt him. He'd need to rest before he continued his plans and thinking. There was just soo much to plan...but he was getting close. Soon, everything would be ready and he could leave this...cartoonishly stupid world.

Lord, he hated this place. His fists clenched in rage. He hadn't known defeat in...he couldn't even remember when. He pushed himself off the wall, walking thru the door to the third district.

Scowling to himself, Riku quickly replaced the blindfold, wrapping it around his eyes with practiced ease. He didn't even need to take off the hood anymore; the motion was that natural. He knew no one was watching him, but he felt eyes on his back. Even knowing that the sensation came from the sullen darkness inside him didn't make it go away.

Uncomfortable and unwilling to admit he was upset, Riku made for the Second District. There would probably be more people there, which was why he usually stuck to the Third, but he felt like he'd lost his cultivated anonymity tonight. He needed to blend into a crowd, needed to slip away from the mess he'd made in the tavern and find the shop that sold potions. That was why he was here, after all. He put his hand against the door, intending to shove it open, but pulled back in surprise as the wood moved of its own accord under his hand.

"What the...?"

Kefka furrowed his brow as the door met with resistance. He pushed a little harder, and the door opened. But he had pressed too hard, and he half fell thru, bumping into the man on the other side.

He recovered and looked at the other man, expecting to meet his eyes, only to be greeted by a blindfold. He blinked in confusion. He opened his mouth to growl something at the new stranger, but instead...

"Pardon, my lord." His tone was deferential. Kefka expressed an inward suprise, shaking his head, trying to clear it...maybe that battle had taken more than he thought. "I mean..." he cleared his throat. "excuse me...sir."

He made to move past this odd, silver haired and blindfolded man, but a wave of dizziness hit him. He felt like...his mind was floating in water. He felt like he was laying on the ground, as if gravity had been thrown off balance.

Kefka fought to remain still, and only took a step to the side to let the blindfolded man pass.

That battle was far too much if its affecting me like this, Kefka thought to

'My lord...?'Riku was too shocked by the honorific to curse or even scowl at the man who had bumped into him. He drew back and would have blinked in surprise, had his eyes been uncovered ( ... )

His shoes tapped along the stone of the first district. While the most decent looking district, he found nothing of real interest here. Perhaps he would move on to another sector of the town. Perhaps there would be other things of interest. He made his way to a tall set of double doors. With the flick of his hand, they slowly churned themselves open, wide enough for his form to find its way through. Clutching his wand tightly, he continued forward.

The Clown... he thought to himself, sensing his presence. He spun around, immediately turning back into the first district. The doors closed behind him, leaving him once more within the first sector of the town ( ... )

Riku's automatic reaction was, of course, to sniff out the other presence. His nose wrinkled as soon as he did. Darkness again...? This one was different, though; unlike the previous stranger, this taller man seemed to be holding darkness in check inside of him, as of containing it behind invisible walls. After a moment of processing information, Riku remembered that he was supposed to respond.

"Good evening," he replied cautiously. The black strip that covered his eyes turned towards the new arrival, 'eyeing' him in a shrewd and discerning manner that showed he knew exactly where the man stood--the lack of sight didn't bother him in the least. Without eyes, it could be viewed as downright eerie. His fingers twitched once, habitually, then remained still.

He felt the probe, but his guard remained down. For some reason, he felt a sense of trust around this man. He was more comfortable, at least, around this blindfolded boy than that insane jester. Realizing the other could only sense his inner presence, his habitual smile faded from his face. There was no need to impress when there was no impressing need to be done. He knew the other could feel his darkness. It just made it that much easier to tell him.

"I come from another land," he said. Apparently, that seemed to be a thing around these parts. "My planet suffers many casualties as a result of the dark creatures -- our very own sun, included."

Why was he saying so much? It was too much. But it just kept pouring out.

"My land is in an eternal ice age. And now the creatures are seeking --"

Me. They're seeking me.He hesitated for a moment, pondering how to shift his words. He couldn't say they were after him. No, that would be too suspicious. Who would want to converse with someone who had creatures of eternal torment on his tail ( ... )

Riku drew back, reacting half-consciously to the new man's openness with a stronger defense. There was no such thing as an innocent; the scent of this stranger told him that much, the story inside belying the story without. He felt a brief pang of guilt at the words; it was a story he was all too used to overhearing, though it was seldom told to him. Nevertheless, he kept his expression stony and guarded.

"And that has what to do with me?" he asked, voice carefully crafted to seem disinterested and a little cold. He intended to turn away, to keep walking, to put distance between himself and the unnervingly open stranger, but he didn't. Instead he added, "That's a problem for the Keyblade Master. Ask around and you'll find out how to contact him." The words still left a bitter taste in his mouth, though he had long since given up the idea of holding the legendary weapon again. He pushed the thoughts aside; there was no power in might-have-beens.
