Katara still wasn't entirely sure about this guy, but there was no way he was a firebender. He didn't have the body language of any bender. He just had a lot of expensive looking weapons. She wasn't sure about them either. The problem was he was the only person she had met up until now ( Read more... )

Dante hated when he felt pangs of compassion, or at least he liked to convince himself that he did. Someone had to be the hero to Vergil's villain, even if nothing was ever that black and white. Leaving a bunch of kids who couldn't tell their asses from a hole in the ground behind to fend for themselves in a new world just wouldn't have ended up sitting write with him. Especially when their best defenses were a boomerang and fucking lemur. So, until they decided to move on, which the white-haired devil aimed to make sooner rather than later, he'd stick with them until he could find a proper place to ditch the little ankle-biters ( ... )

Katara forgot that his man (he had to be much older than her after all, he had white hair!) was the kind to be sarcastic. Or really he was more than that, she was used to sarcasm. Sokka was sarcastic. This man was... it was almost as if he was trying to be mean and spiteful. All the more prove he was from the Fire Nation. Still... she couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't exactly very evil and other than scaring them to prove a point he hadn't hurt them... yet... She put a hand on the canteen that held her water.

"Of course I've seen shooting stars before. But never this many, never this obvious during the day and..." she trailed off. He probably wouldn't take the idea that they 'felt' different. He probably didn't understand that kind of thing.

She wanted Aang to be here, at least he would listen to her. And where was Sokka?

Now that his attention was fully focused on the fucking stars, Dante sat up, noticing that the sheer amount of stars blinking out or plummeting to who knew wear was kind of excessive. Being what he was, there was no mistaking the sheer amount of dark energy surging from... well, everywhere. It wasn't just a pretty spectacle; it reeked of the darkness he'd felt on that day, the day that he'd lost his world.

A more serious expression on his face now, Dante sprung to his feet effortlessly and took a few steps in the direction of the village they'd noticed some time ago. Pausing, he turned to look back at Katara and sighed.

"Come on, kid. Doesn't seem like there's much of a point in waiting around. Your brother probably took shelter in the town over there." Not that he knew this for a fact, but hey. It was possible, right? And it wasn't like he didn't plan on keeping an eye out for the little punk. He wasn't great with kids, but he wasn't a complete dickhole.

At least not all of the time, anyway.

Katara shoved aside the feeling of worry and nodded. She reached up and tucked one of her hair loops behind her ear. She glanced around and hoped to see Sokka and Momo soon.

"Is this really where the Fire Lord lives?" she asked, looking nervously towards the castle. Maybe since he was her she would be safer than before. She hoped that Sokka was okay. At least this guy didn't seem to want to completely abandon her brother.
