Giving Vergil Holy Hives - [ Traverse Town, 2nd District - Open to Vergil and anyone who's arond? ]

Dec 13, 2006 13:35

With some food and a bit of this 'munny' everyone kept talking about, Alice Elliot was finally on her way to getting some much needed rest for the evening. She'd try to leave a message for Greed before she dozed off, but, given how weary she really was, there was no guarantee. Regardless, she was sure that he'd get in touch with her if need be, so ( Read more... )

Vergil, for his own part, was in such a foul mood that even the Heartless were avoiding them. (Or, perhaps, he'd simply ripped through all this district had to offer for the moment in his aggravation. Who knew?) He'd failed to make any real progress since he'd spoken to the girl some hours ago, but that didn't bother him overmuch; as a long-lived demon, patience was something he had large reserves of. But he had actually seen Dante, had just managed to catch up with him...only to see his twin fall right through one of those holes of darkness before he'd even gotten halfway across the square to him.

Dante made everything difficult, didn't he? Vergil never once contemplated the possibility that Dante had gone through the portal for any reason other than to purposely spite him.

But even irritated as he was, he stopped dead just as he was about to stalk out of an alley into the main street of the Second District, as surely as if he'd walked into a wall. There was...it wasn't a smell or a taste, exactly, so much as a generalized ( ... )

Alice's boots clicked softly against the street, the only sound to be heard in the silent district. It was certainly a bit eerie, the perfect setting for something to jump right out at her, and-

The girl shook her head and bit her lip. There was no place for such wild thoughts right now. She had a destination to get to, and nothing was going to stand in her way. She was not helpless without an escort, after all. Besides, she hadn't sensed anything thus far. Alice took another step-

-and almost tripped as the felt an overwhelming force of something that she hadn't sensed in the longest time. At least, certainly not since she'd come to Traverse Town anyhow. The Heartless were one thing, but this... This almost reminded her of Yuri, strong and obviously demonic in nature.

Strange that Alice wasn't frightened by the force. Wary, of course, but such things did little to inspire fear in the young exorcist. Bible in hand, she turned her head to the mouth of a dark alley that practically radiated the energy.

"Hello? Is someone there?"

The holy aura was suffocating. Vergil hadn't felt such purity in a long time; humans were exceedingly corruptible, and even in a world populated by demons who could be repelled by such things there were very few humans who could maintain such innocence. Such light. But this...this was an inferno, white-hot at the core. It was, in fact, the biggest threat of a holy nature he'd ever encountered -

- and it was encased in the body of a young human girl, clutching her Bible like a schoolbook.

Despite the inherent danger, particularly if the girl was the sort of paladin (for who but a holy warrior would even need such strength?) who had no tolerance for corruption whether or not the source of that corruption was in fact actively doing anything evil or just minding its own business, Vergil stepped out of the mouth of the alley into full view. He had his pride; the thought of hiding from a human girl, no matter what strength she might possess, never entered his mind ( ... )

"Oh, so that was you, then," Alice said, seeming to be relieved that the demonic presence she'd sensed came in the form of a young man. Naturally, it wouldn't be wise to think him capable of anything less than Bacon or even Yuri nor would it benefit her to assume that he shared Yuri's disposition. She would have to be on guard, even if she'd learned not to fear those of his origin.

"You don't have to be on guard. I'm not a threat to you," the silver-haired girl assured him, trying not to sound to patronizing. Yuri probably would've laughed at her for saying something like that, considering the way she looked with her hair ribbon and innocent, white stockings. "I assume you can sense it from me as I can sense it from you."
