Slade was in his room, sitting on the bed that rested next to the window that gave him a perfect view of the castle. It was small and dark, nothing like the huge open places he was used to. The sounds of machines had been replaced by the sounds of the bustling city below his third-story window. Slade noticed the bird first. A raven. How horribly ironic. He grinned slightly behind the mask. It would appear that that bird had symbolic meaning even on other worlds.

The green light that appeared with it had an almost hypnotic feeling to it. It wasn't really a 'light' he noticed. It was something else, something that was darkness just as much as it illuminated the area with an eerie greenish glow.

He didn't move for a moment, but whatever hesitation he had he got over rather quickly. He followed the bird and the small concentration of power. Whatever waited for him had to be more interesting than the small room he had been spending so much time in.

Somehow, and he wasn't sure when it happened or even what happened, he found himself in a huge, mostly empty room.

As the orb led the man back to that fated room, Diablo began to squawk again. The green light disappeared and along with it the portal that had led them all here. Maleficent waited for a moment as Diablo circled the masked man.

"So you're the one that answers the call to Darkness?" she questioned calmly without revealing her position. Her voice boomed in that room, filling it as it had done before. That pleased her. It brought back fond memories and a sort of wicked smiled graced her features. She waited for the man to reply, she was eager to see his potential.
