You know, if he didn’t know better he would not call this a desk at all. For one, you couldn’t see any inch of the wood underneath the never ending piles of papers, coffee mugs, and files.
His inner neat freak was not pleased at this although Rufus would like to reason that no, this was not all his fault since he lacked a qualified assistance whom he trusted enough to help him sort out this mess of papers. No, there was no one else he would trust with carefully sorting out through them and putting them away.
So, it all came down to him doing all this.
…Then it was his fault since he well… he should have taken more care when signing the damned things and putting them back in their respective places. Well, too late for that now.
Reaching over he picked up the mug and took a sip of coffee. Ew. It was cold, he pursed his lips together, running his tongue inside his mouth trying to get rid of the foul aftertaste of cold coffee. He slammed the cup down a little harder and more frustrated than he intended and then observed the little flecks of coffee landing all over his paper.
Well. Crap.
In an attempt to salvage the document- and really, really hoping it was not something irreplaceable- he lifted the mug again and pressed another blank piece of paper over the stained one. Except… it got stuck.
Ah!
He shook the paper vigorously and finally it unstuck swirling to the floor and Rufus looked down at the defeated blank piece. Well then, that ought to show it. He lowered his eyes to survey the damage to the document.
It was not good. It would have to be redone, the stains were too obvious for it to be filed away or shown to other officials. Although he was in need of a coffee break …
Document in one hand, mug in the other, he pushed the door of his office open and hoped no one would see him in this rather dishevelled state, getting his own coffee for a change. The coffee they brought him sucked anyways.
Could no one around here do anything properly?
