Japan. It sounded like it must have lay far to the east, but that was young William's best guess. He had been a blacksmith before all of this piracy had entered his life. It hadn't been his business to become concerned with things like geography. Still, the man had to have quite an impressive ship if he'd sailed all the way to Port Royal on his own.
That was curious enough that he had to ask. "How did you get here?" he inquired, looking at Touma over his shoulder. He seemed like a good man, if he'd had the decency to make sure Elizabeth was okay. Though part of Will knew she could handle most situations on her own, he couldn't help being protective.
Her determination was infectious and he knew that she was right. Sitting around and waiting for something to happen, especially in such a dangerous area, wasn't going to do them any good. Besides, the governor might send out a search party and then Elizabeth would get dragged back home. And that simply wouldn't do.
Will stood and dusted himself off, eyeing the scant few ships still left. Most were fairly small and probably wouldn't carry them very far. He rubbed at the back of his head and sighed. "I suppose we have to try, but we need to stay out of open water." Will's question about how Touma had gotten here could easily be misinterpreted. Though, he didn't think the other man was really interested in any story beginning 'one day, Papa and Mama Hashiba decided to start a family....after they found out Mama Hashiba was pregnant.' That was probably not what either Will or Elizabeth would want to hear.
"I arrived here on Tenku, my ship," Touma answered, looking at the distant sky and hoping that one of the bright specks on the horizon was his ship. Not that it was likely, but it was at least a hope deep in his heart.
However, he wasn't too sure if Elizabeth's suggestion - steal a ship - was a good one. Abandoned or no, it went against everything his culture had taught him. Though they did advocate doing what you needed to for survival. This might be one of those cases, but only as a last resort.
