A Question of Insanity - Hollow Bastion [COMPLETE]

Jun 28, 2006 13:57

Though his latest journal entry alluded to it, Zexion was not leaving Castle Oblivion because he'd grown bored. It seemed that in his time away he had become restless, unable to remain stagnant long enough for certain pawns to fall into play. Sometimes a spider waited in its web, other times it saw the need to hunt in hopes of returning with ( Read more... )

It might have been unwise for her to leave the castle so soon, but her meeting with Kairi earlier had left Naminé a little... shell-shocked ( ... )

What scent he had expected to find, Zexion could not say for sure. Any of the remaining members could be scattered across the worlds. Even if this world was the origin of it all it didn't hold any special meaning to them, no more than Travese Town might. Each Nobody had a different and distinct scent but, much like the castle, it wasn't so much the scent of a person as it was an object given human form. For most, they simply smelled like their element.

Naminé was a special case. Zexion always thought she smelled a bit like crayons-

"... IT'S A GHOST!!!""

-and shrieked like a banshee at midnight.

A body that small should not have been able to produce the sheer volume it just did. Zexion turned to face her fully, lilac bangs swept away from his face momentarily so he could cover his ear with a gloved hand. Hopefully, she would get the message ( ... )

Naminé was shell-shocked, to say the least, and was positive that the familiar lilac-haired individual she saw standing at the foot of the falls was merely a figment of her imagination, or hopefully just a restless spirit (did Nobodies become ghosts? Was Zexion still roaming the realm of the living?), and she rubbed at her eyes to make sure that it was not a trick of the light. It seemed to be, for when she re-opened her eyes and saw nothing.

"That's enough, Naminé."

"Z-Zexion?!" The blonde gasped, whirling around. She continued to stare, bright blue eyes as wide as they were when she first saw him. Up close, she could see that he was no ghost, but Naminé prodded him carefully, to make sure she truly wasn't seeing things.

"But... how?!"

What other surprises would she uncover today?!

Xigbar stretched the minute that he had left his studies. Being cooped up in a room for several weeks on end had certainly left his muscles a bit tense. It didn't help that the experiment had just happened to blow up, either. Cursed thing ( ... )

Well, it seemed like they were both willing to hear her out. Naminé felt even more guilty, but now that they were expecting something... at the very least, maybe one of them would be willing to help her. Xigbar, it seemed, for Zexion was busy interrogating the God himself.

"I ... I don't mean to be imposing, but we should look for Riku..." She mumbled, wringing her hands even more. A nervous habit that never quite died.

"It was very nice meeting you though, Mr. Byakko." Naminé hadn't forgotten her manners (especially when speaking to a God!), and she bowed slightly. She would have loved to speak with the cat god but there were more pressing matters at hand. For her, anyway.

"The wine's decent," Byakko started, pondering what he knew of Hollow Bastion's kitchens. "Some of it's fairly old, good vintages apparently that survived. Some beer too. Probably other things if one cares to look." Byakko hadn't really bothered. There was sake aplenty in Gensou-Kai and he didn't really have enough time here to be bothered with finding eveything out ( ... )

"Hmmm..." Ah, well, it figured that Riku was on her mind, really. She was probably feeling bad that she had landed here and Riku was...somewhere. Xigbar still felt that the silver-haired boy would be fine, but if Naminé really felt it would help her to look for him, who was he to judge?

As for what Byakko said concerning the darkness...he supposed that was true. Now that the cat had begun with the discussion of darkness, Zexion would probably want to prod the god for more information. Anyway, Byakko didn't seem to want to tell them a lot about this Imaginary World...yet. Maybe if Xigbar met him later, it would change.

He looked at Zexion. Would the Lord over Darkness want to accompnay Naminé, or would he travel with her. Ah, all the wine and such that he could try...
Ah well. That was life.

All worlds were connected to the darkness, but not all of them were facing the same imbalance that the war brought on ( ... )
