A flicker; Traverse Town; [continued here]

"That's for me...?" The inquiry about the items caused a raise of an eyebrow in response. "Yeah.." There was nothing particularly odd about giving the items that belonged to his friend, to him. They both got something out of that munny so it was a fair shake on both sides. It didn't hurt to make sure that there was extra items there if his friend ( Read more... )

It was definitely a random act of kindness Zack hadn't been expecting. However, he wasn't going to force the bag of items back on his friend. Cloud wouldn't like that at all. So he immediately fished out that accessory and clasped it on, grinning once it was firmly in place around his ankle. He felt the effects almost immediately. From what he could tell, it was one that increased defense against darkness. How appropriate ( ... )

It was just as well for all involved that Sephiroth had already been awake, because given his erratic sleep schedule he would have been thoroughly annoyed to be woken up out of turn, even by Zack. But as it was, he'd managed a surprising few hours of sleep - in spite of Traverse's unnatural darkness - and had been working on an entry for his journal when he heard Zack's call echoing through the hotel.

Probably just as well if he vacated the room, he decided; the woman that blue-haired man had warned him off hadn't returned yet, and might never do so, but all the same it would save trouble if Sephiroth weren't in her room when she returned. It wasn't as if he'd paid for the room, after all, and given his finances he wanted to keep things that way.Tucking away his journal, and grabbing Masamune from its place against the wall, he headed for the door of the room, pushing it open and stepping into the hallway, stifling the kneejerk shiver at the sudden temperature change. Either the hole in the ceiling hadn't been fixed or ( ... )

Aerith had finally been helped up and onto the roof by the time her friend's cheerful call could be heard from down below. She smiled back at Leon and trotted over to the hole they'd been seeking to temporarily patch up, careful not to lose her balance and fall again. She was sure falling from the roof would be much more painful than the little spill she'd almost had inside. It was a little precarious, balancing on a rooftop, but the flower girl managed without falling on her rear-end or injuring anything.

Aerith knelt down carefully by the hole, poking her head through to see Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth all standing around in the hall. She waved, motioning Leon over as well with her other hand.

"Up here, guys! Leon and I are trying to patch up the roof a little until that Dante fellow shows up to fix it," she called down. No, the girl chose not to mention that it looked slightly more torn up than the last time they remembered it.

Leon heard Zack's voice emerge from the nearby hole, but unlike the flower girl, he did not smile. Quite the contrary, in fact, brows furrowing and lips thinning in a scowl. Despite his evident displeasure, he kept his eyes fixed on Aerith as she moved about the roof, though he doubted he ould do much even if she did end up falling. Hopefully she wouldn't. After a while, he joined her, kneeling by the hole and poking his head through to take a look.

He blinked, surprised to find the idiot Zack accompanied by Cloud and Sephiroth. He remembered Aerith mentioning something about a meeting. Was that what they were here for?

It was pretty comforting to see that things were finally starting to get down to business.

"Yep," Zack said in agreement to Cloud's statement. "And... I think we should get in that room already because I'm turning into a popsicle out here." Sleeping that night was going to be a nightmare. Too bad he didn't have a warm body to cuddle up with...

"Aerith, Leon, you two catch up." Since the work on the roof seemed more or less done, he couldn't imagine it would take them very long to get down. Zack glanced at Sephiroth. "Lead the way!"

Sora and Sephiroth had fought against each other in a tournament, huh? That wasn't so hard to believe. Sephiroth had said that he'd been at the Coliseum for a good while. Zack was curious about the outcome of that match-up, but since no one seemed to be mentioning it, he wasn't sure it would be a good idea to ask.

Damn - Sora did remember him. Well, at least he'd either had the sense or absent-mindedness not to mention the OUTCOME of their match, and hopefully it would stay that way. Glancing over his shoulder at the boy with a faintly aggravated and rather significant look, his only response was "Maybe".

Sephiroth pointedly ignored the interest Zack and Cloud both showed at the idea of he and Sora fighting each other, turning his back to both of them to lead the way back into the room he'd just vacated. If the woman his blue-haired friend from earlier came back now...let her. Zack could certainly charm her into giving up her room to their cause if the need arose.

Aerith was pretty cold herself by the time she and Leon had finished their task and nearly jumped up and down to get her blood pumping again before she realized doing so might cause another accident. Teeth chattering, she managed to smile at Leon as she started to slowly pick her way along the roof back to the edge where that table was.

"We'll be down in a second!" she called to Zack and the others. The flower girl turned to Leon, cocking her head and offering him another, tentative smile. "You go first and then help me down?"

Leon arched a brow at Aerith a little at the tentative request, almost as if to say, I'm not going to bite. They were able to manange tocover the hole without incident, and the propect of possibly getting something done during this little meeting had mollified him considerably.

There was still Zack, of course, and the fact that his irritation at the former SOLDIER was starting to greatly outweigh his guilt, but that could always be dealt with later. It would be, too.

He slipped off the edge of the roof and landed on the table in one light, neat motion that belied his wearyness. Leon then tested the table -- mostly to make sure that it wasn't slippery from the newly fallen snow rather than seeing if it could bear his weight a second time -- before turning to face Aerith and holding out his hands toward her. His face was impassive as he instructed, "Put your hands on my shoulders. It'll be easier if I lift you and put you down."
