I know my family has terrible luck sometimes but with these past two weeks, it's getting out of hand. We've spent much of the past ten days in ICU. My grandmother suddenly became severely ill and had to be put on a ventilator. As of today, the outlook seems pretty grim. Yet even though I've been visiting her everyday I think the reality of the ( Read more... )

Aww, Michele, I'm so sorry. :(
Dealing with the sickness of someone you love is always hard. Unity is, as you say, really wonderful but yeah, understaffed. I wish she were at General or Strong. :(

Thank you for your support.
I wasn't with my grandma when the ambulance took her there. However, my mom said it was so crowded it looked like there had been a major accident. Simply crazy. Dozens of patients were on stretchers in the hallways, the staff could hardly get through. It's strange to think that such a small hospital can be so busy. It was a miracle that she got there and made it through alive in the first place.
My mom has been able to handle everything so well. It leaves me in awe.

She's doing a little bit better, thankfully. We found out the problem was internal bleeding but at her age, open heart surgery is risky. While the doctors are still mulling things over, overall her health has improved a little. It's pretty amazing, that she's made through all this, sorry to make you worry.

I'm doing ok, overall. I've been missing everyone, so of course I can't wait till summer rolls around, too.

Apologies for leaving you hanging, I haven't been around much. And yes, she's been doing a lot better since I last posted!
The doctors are considering her medically stable, so she has been transferred out of the hospital. She's still too weak to be able to move on her own, however (right now she can't even stand). For the time being she'll be staying at a nursing home until necessary. She really wants to be home; she's fiercely independent for her age but that's what gives her so much willpower. In any case, I'm still thankful she's made so much progress in a few short weeks.

Awww sweety, I really hope she will do well, it must be as hard for you as it is on you. I just only hope for the best for you dear. I hope you found some comfort in what I said, usually death isn't what I'm best at...

To make you feel slightly better I'll draw the picture, maybe that can lighten you up? I hope so at least...

And yet I also am to become a RN? I know, I'm lame...

Thank you. It's alright, I can never find the right words with that either... I don't expect anyone to be able to, honestly. It's something that's universally difficult. That said, I really think my grandmother is going to pull through this. Her health has been improving quite a bit, so there is some good news.

I would really appreciate that. :D Although I'd feel guilty if I didn't return the favor somehow. Unfortunately I'm not very artistically skilled, I haven't drawn much at all in the past five years. But hey, maybe I'll be able to muster up and give it a try, I can't improve otherwise.

Bah, that's not lame at all! Far from it! I have so much respect for nurses, it really is a labor of love. My mom actually works at a small pediatric office but before that came along she worked at a hospital. I've given it some thought but I'm not cut out for it. You should go for it!

Oh I'm glad for that!

It's really no problem, I'm not really any good either ahahahaha...

That sounds soo cool! I would love to try and work in a hospital someday like your mum did. And thanks again ^^ I hope you have a good day.

Ohohoho. It sounds like a sketch exchange is in order. Unfortunately, it may be a while before I can give you anything. I lack the adequate programs (and skill!) for digital art, so I'll have to borrow a scanner.

I noticed you had Trauma Center listed as an interest ... have you seen this yet?
