"Kouichi, come back," he hears her say. She's scanning the sky for him, her hand shading her eyes from the glaring sun. He's hard to spot, his feathers perfect camouflage against the bark. He likes being Aizawa Kouichi, but the simplified thoughts of his owl form give him more comfort. It's hard to change back. This time, he wonders if he wants to. Things in the world of Nabari have tired him. He will never be able to stop or rest, unlike others who will be free of the world of Nabari once they die. He will never be free in such a way. He wishes for death, but death is not his to choose, not when he has people like Raimei who will mourn him.
