this is painful in an amazingly realistic way - poignant and hopeless and completely tragic. plus? his speech to robin is lovely.

...there's got to be some hope, though - james calling his parents combined with the fact that there seem to be seven more chapters is enough for me!

I've been a fan of HIMYM for quite a while now, but I'm just getting into the online community and, I have to say, this story is amazing. I'd never thought I'd be looking forward to seeing Barney in so much pain. But sure enough, I'm checking for updates of this story first thing everyday. I may just be obsessed.

I had to finally comment on this chapter though because it was just exceptional. So sad but also, oddly, inspiring to me. I don't know...Barney's acceptance of it all is just...well I can't explain but..so good. Looking forward to the next chapter and EVERY chapter after that.

Let me ripost, sirrah

1. According to Barney's blog "death bed" is a time when you're allowed to wank on about your feelings. And, frankly, he's probably getting all soppy due to the drugs. Plus, I've read quite a bit of convincing fic that postulates Barney WAS actually in love with Robin from that first moment...
