Leonard was walking through the galley, his intention simply to see what was for dinner that evening (and to see if there was pie for a snack). After picking up a piece of chocolate pie, he headed back to Sickbay when he spotted Nora.
She looked... lost. "You okay," he asked as he approached her, a concerned look on his face.
Oh. It was Doctor McCoy. Wordlessly, for lack of any proper words, Nora simply shrugged and held out the PADD for him to read, its message clearly visible.
He read that, then looked at her again. Clearly this was unexpected for her.
Sitting down, he read it again, his forehead frowning. "So, this man, Tobik - he didn't know about you?" he asked, laying the padd down carefully. "Does he know about any of your family?"
"To-vik," Nora corrected, her brain still on autopilot. "No...I guess he didn't. I mean, my grandpa never knew anything about his dad." She sucked a corner of her lower lip into her mouth and meditatively chewed on it. "I'm guessing...well, maybe it was a one-night stand or something, and this guy was too embarrassed to contact my great-grandma."
