Why does the heat always goes out on the coldest night of the year?!?

What type of heat do you have?

Its always good to be prepared and create redundancy. I figure if the heat pumps fail or grid goes out, we have pellet stove (with solar-fed battery to run fan).

If nothing else, a battery pack with electric blanket is better than nothing.

It's oil.

Backup are space heaters. Don't have any off grid solution :(

It doesn't, you just don't notice on warm nights. :)

Failed eq. Oil was delivered last week. I think it needs some cleaning or something. At least it behaved like this last year and that's what the guy said needed doing. Of course I ain't got a clue how to do that.

Or a quick trip to walmart for space heaters, plug them in, turn them on, go to sleep, and call the furnace guy in the morning.
