My FIL owns a small air transport company. For the most part he is the sole pilot/mechanic but at times could have an extra pilot or other help when things get busy. He's dead set against hiring any pilot or mechanic who is a cigarette or other tobacco smoke. He figures that anyone who doesn't have any respect for his own life isn't fit to be given responsibility for the life or death of his clients -much less the company's property/aircraft or other assets.

I guess as long as the smoker only smokes at home and he never finds out about it then they wouldn't be in any trouble, but once he starts doing the mandatory random blood tests on all his employees for the presence of nicotine in their system then they are going to be sacked if they are shown to be closet cigarette fiends.
