Turning away from the makeshift basketball court, Kirby walked up to the house's main entrance and into the lobby. She took in the room as she walked, noting the position of the stairs, doors and window and fixing them in a mental map without actually taking her eyes from the reception desk. For all intents and purposes, she was totally focussed on it and the woman sitting there.
"Hi," she said when she got there. "I'm Kirby Mitchell. I called ahead."
She flicked a strand of blonde hair from her face and grinned down at the woman.
