A few hours later, Marlena left the building looking quite a bit more cheerful than she had when she entered. There was a certain glow about her, and if she walked with a slightly strange gait, it probably wasn't noticeable enough to be worth mentioning.
As she headed back toward the busier city center, she began to whistle. The night was still young.

He hadn't had sex since the aborted attempt with Spock-as-a-woman, and something about Marlena's manner, when he came upon her unexpectedly, struck him as familiar and smugly post-coital. He should know, he thought. And how curious, that he'd run into her here, now, after mentioning her earlier that evening. He wondered what she'd been up to. He wondered if he cared.
"Marlena," he said, acknowledgment unavoidable. "Making yourself useful?"
