Kevin looked up from the board game he was playing with Julian and Ephram. "Hey," he greeted with a smile. "We were just playing Sorry."

"Yeah?" She moved closer to them, dropping to her knees next to Ephram on the ground and peering at the board. "Who's winning?"

"I am!" Jules declared. Two of his pieces were still in the Home circle, but one was in the Safe Zone and another was almost there. It was difficult to tell this early in the game who would win, but Jules had confidence.

Kevin chuckled and shook his head. "They're actually both ahead of me so far. I'm pretty good at this game, but I guess I've met my matches."

Yeoman Barrows arrived outside the quarters to which she'd been told to deliver the trundle beds. They waited, folded up against the wall of the corridor, as she rang the door chime.

Marlena jumped up when she heard the chime. "Come in," she called as she went to the door.

"Hello," Barrows said. "I was told to deliver these here." She gestured at the beds. "Where shall I put them?"

Marlena stepped back, allowing the yeoman to bring the beds into the room. "How about over here?" She pointed at the living area, separated from the sleeping area by a grated partition. "We'll have to move some of this furniture out of the way..." She grabbed an armchair and wrestled it aside, leaving space for the beds. "There. Thank you, Yeoman."

After dinner and ice cream, Marlena replicated two sets of pajamas and let the boys change, and check that the trundle beds were set up properly with sheets, blankets and pillows.

"All right, Jules, Ephram, time for bed," she told them. "Kevin and I will be just in the other room if you need anything." She indicated the partition that mostly separated the quarters.

"Hey, now," Kevin said. "Don't you think bedtime stories are in order?"

Not only was Kevin a strong advocate of bedtime stories; he was also trying to put off going to bed with a strange woman for as long as possible.

"Yeah!" Jules chimed in. "Can you tell us a story, Lena?"

Marlena chuckled. "I'm not a very good storyteller," she admitted. "Maybe Kevin can tell you a story."
