To say Kitty had had a good day was an understatement, she'd had a great day. It was fun and so far nothing had gone insanely wrong, she was waiting for it to though. Plus she didn't even hate what Rachel had picked out although it was shorter than anything she ever would have, it only came to right at her knees and it cut down lower than anything she would have picked out. But it wasn't that bad of a dress. Okay she had to admit it she felt really stupid in it and knew she had to look just as stupid. She lingered at his door trying to decide if she should run back and change or not.
"Ororo is Storm. Her power is the ability to manipulate the weather, she can cause hurricanes, summon lighting, fly on the wind, and so on. But that's not what makes her amazing," Kitty smiled. "Ororo's amazing without her powers, she lost them for awhile but was still team leader. She's like a mother to me."
She tilted her head, "It's a nice place, I think...yeah there's actually not anywhere I haven't been. It probably helps that we have someone from everywhere on the team. I'm not sure if you've picked up on it yet, but the X-Men are um pretty huge. A few examples are Kurt's from Germany, Piotr from Russia, Storm from Kenya, and Xi'an's from Vietnam."
[ooc: yeah the post is up now even though Rachel's run into hiding now and the workshop went BOOM. And that's okay.]
"Wow. I can understand the idea of Goddess, then."
He smiled. "The Marines are very similar. I'm from Singapore. Chief Williams was from Texas. Shepard has never been to Earth. She was born on the colony of Akuze."
"She's also been a theif, leader of the Morlocks, she took the place of Thor for a short time, and now she's Queen of Wakanda. You'd like her though and I'm sure she'd like you."
Kitty laughed, "Okay I'm sorry but Texas really shouldn't be included in different places people are from. It's Texas, it's really not special. Singapore? Really? Is that were you grew up?"
"About my childhood?" He chuckled. "There isn't really much to tell. My father was a Marine, so he wasn't around too often. When he was, it was to tell me the 'right' way things were supposed to be done, and not really much else. I stayed with my grandmother a lot, because my mother worked as a real estate broker. I know my Nana better than her, really. She passed away when I was 20."
"What was school there like? Were there normal classes too? I didn't go to normal school for very long. I was skipped ahead a lot. So by the time I was 13 I was taking college classes and basically done with school. Then I went to Xavier's," she laughed. "I'm kind of a geek. Okay no I really am a geek. I have Pac-Man lights in my room and I used to wear glasses."
He laughed. "There's nothing wrong with that. I was a computer nerd for the most part, but then again, technology was moving at such a breakneck pace, it was something that was literally always changing."
He heaved a sigh. "School at Jump Zero was interesting, mostly because all of us were required to more things telekinetically if at all possible," his voice too on a hard edge, "whether you were able to or not."
"Sounds like I would have really had fun with that. Then again I've gotten to see a lot of advanced technology anyway compared to most people on Earth," she shrugged. "Shi'ar technology is impressive."
She put a hand on his shoulder, "Sorry they made you do that. At least that part of your life is over."
[ooc: doubt you'll actually get this until notifs are back, but fyi lj notifs are down for basically everyone.]
"A lot of the alien technology where I'm from is pretty impressive too. Of course, they've been spacefaring for a bit longer than Humanity, so it stands to reason."
He smiled when she placed her hand on his shoulder. "I'm good. Really."
"I'd definitely love it then. Shi'ar is probably the most interesting for me. Then again I think a lot of my enjoyment that came from learning to fly their crafts was because I couldn't even legally drive then. Not that it ever stopped me, Courtney bought me an amazing car for my fifteenth birthday and she let me drive it. Plus I'd already learned to fly jets and the Blackbird by then." She blushed a little. "Wow. I'm really babbling like an idiot."
When he smiled she couldn't help but smile too, "If your ever you know not good, you can talk to me. Anytime." She paused. "I um...well I wanted to thank you. So yeah thank you, a lot."
"I'm glad," she laughed. "Jeez, complicated story. Basically the X-Men first had contact with the Shi'ar when Lilandra asked for their help in stoping her brother D'ken from getting the M'Kraan Crystal. He wanted to use it's power for himself. He could have destroyed every world in every universe with it. So they went and Jean became Phoenix and they won."
She looked sad for a moment, "The Shi'ar are an Avian race, some still have wings but it's rare. They still have eggs. Their empire is huge and they're somewhat warlike in nature. Conquering. They have amazing technology though and things were okay with them sometimes.
Biting her lip she continued, "You know until they decided to wipe out all of Rachel's family in a few minutes. Every single member even people not related by blood and it was the first time she'd ever gotten to meet some of them. After that we haven't had a great relationship. At least we don't fight them all the time like the Skrull, Brood, Phalanx, or the Spineless Ones."
She finally just decided to knock.

Then he laughed. "I think Texas is different, but then again, maybe that's because I'm not American. Yeah, that's where I grew up."

"Oh no, Texas is different" she said putting air quotes around the word different. "So tell me about your childhood."
