Did you want a plant wall? I thought you did! lsr_boo December 27 2010, 00:59:41 UTC
What Kadaj happened upon was not what was originally expected. Around the city's rubble was a ring of plants. In places the wall of foliage was actually nearly as tall as Kadaj himself. Some places it wasn't much above his knees.

What was remarkable about this mass of plants was that they were also a mess and tangle of what looked like little heads. Though the plants had no eyes, they appeared to be... watching him.

Yuffie wanted to see this wall of Vincent's Mom's. And she wanted to see if Scarlet really did know her stuff. The plants were SUPER CUTE and she wanted one. In purple or something. They were kind of clever too, she was talking to one, petting it and it was responding.

Then it stopped and hissed.

When Yuffie turned she saw Kadaj. Fuck. This was not a good thing, she backed closer to a taller growth of plants and hoped he would not see her.

Kadaj had been watching the plants warily as he moved forward. Much, it would seem, in the same way that they were watching him. It was that fact alone that made him pay attention to them at all. He had never thought plants to be so capable of apparent malice.

He hadn't seen her, precisely, but he had seen something. A bit of motion, not even certain to be human, but enough to make him aware that there was something present nearby.

"Who's there?" he asked, looking toward the group of tall plants. They seemed to peer back at him, seeming to shield whoever or whatever was behind them the way a protective parent might do for a child. He stared back at them, suppressing an urge to shudder.

Yuffie pressed herself into the plants more and swallowed. The plants hissed at Kadaj, and some of the heads snapped in his direction. Yuffie tried to calm her breathing. Even Tifa and Cloud had issues with these guys, Yuffie was alone and her conformer wouldn't be enough, would it?

She would probably have some trouble fighting him if it came to that. Of course, Kadaj was less inclined to fight than his brothers, unless he had reason to. And unless the plants were studier than they looked, that probably meant she might be in more danger at the moment standing right behind them.

"I know you're behind the plants there," he said, hoping whoever might be back there would reveal themselves.

Now matter how much he looked at those plants, he couldn't stop finding them disturbing. He had been given his fair share of dirty looks in the past, but never from things that normally fell in the category of inanimate objects. But these were certainly displeased with him, and only seemed moreso the closer he got.

He approached a woman who seemed as if she might have been tending to them, giving a glance to the animal who accompanied her.

"Are these yours?" he asked, gesturing to the nearby plants. He kept a bit distance from them, though, at least for now.

"My sister is here," he replied calmly, staring back at her. "I came to see her." She didn't need to know any more than that. His gaze flicked to the surrounding plants.

"Are they always so unfriendly?" He wondered if it was him they reacted to, or simply anyone that wasn't the woman in front of him.
