As Shelke walked along a street she heard something sounding like a horse's hooves. But there was nothing like a horse in sight, nor did anyone around her seem to pay any attention. But the sound was there, distinct. She might remember having heard it before, though she never learned exactly what it was, then.
Now, the hooves ran in circles around her, then off away to the side. It was almost as if they were trying to lead her somewhere.
