Summary: It was time to see the results of the last 24 hours. All the heavy air contained within the forcefield may have stirred the necessary infection in the townspeople already and now Sephiroth felt strong enough to approach the settlement it was as good a time as any to make his presence known and influence them all more directly. The disappearance of Kadaj and Yazoo only further enhanced Sephiroth's confidence, to know that they had returned to whence they came - pieces of his own will.
It's time Mother.
Time to see all fruits of our efforts here.
To verify the worth of this town to our purpose.
Sephiroth mused quietly within his own mind as he allowed one great black wing to catch the breeze as he stood atop the ridge he'd occupied many a morning before. The forcefield created a Northern lights effect early in the morning but soon traces of the power contained in it and within it became invisible under the light of day. But that was OK, Sephiroth was acutely aware of it's existence being that it was solely created by his own will and he knew more than anyone else needed to about the great power it was containing within the very air inside. It had been a long time since Sephiroth had access to such power, it was refreshing, invigorating and still had a tang of achievement about it.
This time, they will not stop me. They cannot withhold the inevitable any longer.
A silent moment drew itself out as the black wing took one almighty beat and Sephiroth lunged skyward. He caught balance easily within the high winds and the enriched air, it yielded to his will automatically and carried him the way he wanted to go, not a long distance at all to the centre of the 'town' below. It couldn't really be called a town though, with it's worn down buildings and slum like appearance. In some ways it was a reflection of Midgar's old slums except with the sky above them.
From several feet up in the air Sephiroth gazed down on what could be the perimeters of their town. He could almost feel the pulse of the upper limits of the forcefield at his back, he could smell the simmering energy that had been growing in the air ever since he'd marked out this piece of the world as his own. Sephiroth simply allowed himself to partake of some of that energy and channel it through himself, until the flickering blue fire that he'd summoned to his hand in the creation of the field was returned to him, it surrounded his entire frame as if he was made purely of it. It swept through black feathers as if they were made of fire and once he felt the time was right Sephiroth projected this energy towards the town. Small fiery blue feathers were flicked loose from their host, and somewhat haphazardly descended on the town below, they caught light to whatever they landed on.
Almost instantly the circumference of the settlement was alight with blue, and then burning orange flames. The whole atmosphere seemed to take a breath and hold it as there was the sense of scurried activity suddenly in the area beneath him. Sephiroth smiled as he allowed himself to descend into the middle of that circle, there would be no escape for anyone in Corel now. They would accept him as absolute authority, or he could end it all. He wondered if ShinRa or the WRO would have the resources to deal with another Nibelheim, somehow he doubted it.
Dead centre Sephiroth landed by the most delicate of touches of boots to the ground. Despite the flames ignited, they had a fair amount of time before they would eat their way to the centre of the circle. As he stood himself up to his full height and waited for the reaction to his arrival Sephiroth savored the fear that just his one action so far had created. It was further amplified as people had fled into the area he occupied, most would flee back the other way and then run back towards him as the people realized they had no where else to go; they would all eventually crowd with him in the area he had occupied. All the while a victorious energy was built up in Sephiroth, as he stanced with Masamune poised high at the cluster of security men, hired mercenaries with out dated guns pointed in his direction but he already knew they wouldn't have the guts to shoot. He could take them all out with one swipe of the great blade at the distance they kept.
