Chronicles of Narnia were AWESOME

I'm kinda staying away from lj for a short time, but I had to get on and say that. It starts slow, but gets really good. It's not as evangelistic as I had expected, but for those who understand the symbolism it is heartwarming. Don't ask me if it's as good as the book because I hate those types of comparisons. Miss ya

I disagree only on your opinion of how it started. I thought opening WWII nazi bombing raids on London set the stage perfectly, not only for the parallel of physical way vs spiritual war but also from a litterary stand point, knowing that that is what the author was experiencing during the stories writing.

Overall.. AWeSOME! :)

agreed...I was referring more to the amount of time it took to establish the relationship between the siblings - no biggie, the movie overall was the best one I've seen in a long time AND I CRIED three times during it - haven't done that in a movie since The Passion

I saw it yesterday, and I loved it. Of course it's not the book (what movie ever is?), but that's beside the point... I've been looking forward to this since I first heard it was in the making and I wasn't disappointed.

I am sort of glad it wasn't hyper-evangelistic though. I don't think Mr. Lewis would have wanted it that way, and I fear billing it as a "Christian movie" would turn non-Christians off to it. But... yeah. Good stuff.

I am also glad that it wasn't hyper-evangelistic because I've already had a friend ask me some questions about it on aim and I plan on explaining it to him thoroughly and buying him the book

I'd rather see the church do it's job with whatever is at our disposal than to see us watch movies and justify never opening our mouths about the truth that we know

However, even though I agree with you, I certainly expected something different based on some meetings I was invited to (for pastors of churches) that made it sound that way

Disney stayed as true to the theme, message and feel of the book as is possible in a movie in my opinion - and I agree that CS would be happy

Lets just hope they continue with what they are doing and HOW they are doing it...following the books...I hate it when they add garbage to it...
