From the *facepalm* department

There's a new first grader in my class. Yup. School is over two weeks from today, boys and girls, and there's a new student.

Don't ask. I can't explain it, nor do I want to.

How can you grade on 10 days attendance. That seems a bit unreasonable. Would you have let them in if you were the school administrator? I feel bad for the kid too. No time to meet people, make friends, etc. Yanked out of their comfort zone and plunked down somewhere. sigh, YOu had it right, Jen, their parents are treating them like luggage.

we had two students that left here and ended up at their new school 8 days before the end of the school year. The school refused to admit them. Seemed reasonable to me.

Those are such a pain in the neck and you feel so bad for the kid.

I don't know if this is your situation, but here quite often it's kids from Korea because the parents relocated for a job and the Korean schools end a couple of weeks earlier than we do. The parents want them to get a head start on intergrating into their new school.
