So, I was browsing on YouTube (originally for Dutch songs - from Het Goede Doel - and I ended up with the Wilhelmus, which is the Dutch national anthem.

Did you know that the Wilhelmus is the oldest anthem in the world? It was written in the 16th century by someone whose name I can't remember right now, and it's about prince Willem van Oranje (

I actually did know that about the anthem. Having a history nerd for a husband will do that to a girl. ;P

The funny thing is, you're right, there's great tolerant stuff about the Netherlands. However they are the WORST country as far as immigration goes. The laws they have put in place... they actually are not even legal, as they won't let husband and wife be together if one of them hails from another country, unless they meet bogus requirements. Which is not legal under the some laws of human rights thing, he knows about it, lol. Hence why we live in Belgium, and intend NOT to go back to such a ludicrous country. No offense intended, I quite like the NL otherwise, as does he. But yeah. =/

I agree with you. I don't know too much about the law regarding immigration, but the issues that exist around immigrants are just rubbish (well, some of them). I mean, in my opinion, if you have as many cultures as The Netherlands does, you should appreciate it, not fight over it. I get that we're getting too full and all that, but still. You could make it easier for the people that ARE here.

And Belgium is cool. I've been there a couple of times; one of my aunts lives there, and she agrees on it being better than The Netherlands (and she grew up here). So yeah =)

And they talk funny. I was talking to a Belgian girl today and she said 'u' to me. The only people doing that back here are 3 year olds... =P
