Every day after Michael left for work, Eve went about the business of taking herself apart. She did it in the basement, so the mess would be easier to clean up. Sitting at her workbench, she had a system for where everything should go. Well written. There are far too many women like Eve, minus the tanks of body parts, who try to make themselves into what they *think* their significant other wants them to be, and lose themselves in the process.

I think there's a lot of societal pressure on women in particular to be the accommodators, the compromisers, the apologizers. Our definitions of "manly" include "standing your ground" and it's seen as a feminine thing to "gracefully bow under pressure". We get these messages from so many sources, and in so many subtle ways - they're pervasive and damaging to everyone, no matter what gender they identify with. I certainly hope that by the time we achieve this kind of technology, Eve's character won't ring nearly so true or seem like a common personality type.
