And yes, indeed. It's going to be a problem for everyone. I think Google Chrome is heading the right way - threads have proved to be too hard for most people, so spin off extra processes. For everything that /can/ be delegated to another process.

And we already have dual quad-core machines. But no-one uses one as a windows w/s.

Actually, we are now using two of them - in place of about ten retired five year old servers. With room to spare - we only got two coz you can't trust one of anything...
