I'm having a Field Day

(As befits a Field Engineer, perhaps.)

Another challenging callout tonight, to a faulty PC in Barnet. The "fault" being that he'd turned it off at the wall. Another fierce test of my technical skills there.

However, this gave me a chance to run an errand and collect a Freecycled UK101, which has aroused so much interest on ClassicCmp that I plan ( Read more... )

Field Day looks fun, and they have one of my favourite bands in the line-up, Of Montreal. I'm hoping to go myself if I can get out of working that weekend.

To be brutally honest, I've never heard of most of the acts. I'd never heard of Laura Marling - I just Googled her ass. The POWAH of WEBFONE! Or something.

The only people on I fancy seeing are the Mystery Jets. But hey, I always am open to new music, and these days I can swim in a torrent (*ahem*) of it.

The first prize was a Gibson guitar and that's what I was really hoping for, but I'm pretty chuffed anyway!

People want UK101s?

I mentioned it on CCtalk and got half a dozen emails going "can I have it please?" Also it was spotted on FreecycleLondon and mentioned by several people on CIX.

I plan to have a brief pay and see if I can raise £20 or £30 for Bletchley with it. I suspect, though, that if they have to *pay*, no bugger will want it. Free, yeah, gimme. Money? Ah, um, er, you're all right, ta...

Oh yes, the UK101 is a fine old computer and well worth having. Oh, and thanks for linking to my web-site about it, too!

I must admit that I was well pleased with mine at the time, but it's just taking up space now. Do you know anyone who'd want the thing? I'll even deliver it if handy for Bristol.

For a change I will mostly be in Bradford for Infest. Current plans involve a stag do on the Saturday night in Wakefield.

Well pop down to the Union for a pint or two, eh?. Or get a wristband, goth up (i.e., wear black) and come along - it's only £45 or something, pretty cheap really.
