Ooh, I like this idea of Gene's wife not being a complete harpy, or an idiot he looks down upon or sleeps around on.

Wait- does that sentence make sense? Gah, far too early for sense-making.

Anyway, I liked the story. I definitely agree with watervole's comments re: showing the relationship. I'd love to "hear" Clara speak - is she Mancunian like Gene, or was she born somewhere else, with a different style of speech? Does she speak up for herself, or is she more easy-going? There are so many things you can build off.

Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Yeah, I don't like thinking of her being a complete brow-beater but I do like thinking she can give as good as she gets.

OK, I'll be the first to say that I am a slash addict but this story was very sweet and I enjoyed it. I wish there was more LoM fanfiction out there because I can't get enough of it and although slash is still by far my fave it nice to see other stories too.

That was very sweet. It's nice to see a portrait of a marriage that works. I find it difficult sometimes to write Gene, so I'm always really impressed when other people get him right, which you did. I really got a realistic sense of their relationship. Well done.
