It's just a simple question, not a pop quiz or solicitation.

I've noticed effects lasting up two weeks. They can be pretty awful, depending. I lost my sight and use of legs for a while; another time, I couldn't use my magic. Almost everyone I've seen return has been significantly worse for a time.

But they do seem to get better, correct? They don't get worse.

Eventually, yes. I haven't heard of anyone growing worse over time.

...did this happen to someone?

I didn't think so.

[She hesitates and it's a minute or two before she continues.] I'm not sure. One of my friends returned home in bad shape and I was just wondering.

...am I supposed to take that as a hint that he's still not doing well?

[Oh shoot, she should have locked it. There's another ink blotch.] Not as well as I'd like, no. I just wanted to know how long the effects would last.

[He probably would have been more irritated if she had locked it. There are a few splotches of ink as he taps on the page to think.] Depends. Hisoka healed up after a few days. As did you, didn't you?

[Yeah and that's another argument for another not-so-important day.]

Yes. I was hoping Harry would, as well, but he came back in much worse shape than I did.

The effects seem to last from a few days to about two weeks, depending on the person and situation.

[The two weeks part is definitely not what she wanted to hear.] They do wear off, don't they? They don't ever seem to get worse?

It usually wears off, but... really, something like this is case by case, due to how unique individuals are.

[She takes a while to respond and there's ink in random places on the page.] I understand. Thank you.

[When alerted to the possibility that Harry needed help, Neville all but races to the dining room meeting.] What's wrong with him?

[She looks up and moves books so Neville can sit down.]

I don't know, but he's... he's napping or something. He's... everything's off. It's like fifth year all over again and I don't know. I need to wait for everyone else to get here.

Fifth year... So you think Death Eaters are trying something with him? [The plural on his accusation is mostly for Hermione's benefit. There's only one death eater he knows about within the confines of the building, unless Draco's been recruiting.]

No, I don't. [She looks at him seriously, appreciative that he didn't outright accuse Draco.] I think the Malnosso did something to Harry's mind. Their Shifting technology can do that sort of thing and I wouldn't put it past them to do it.
