I usually don't get into things like this, signing petitions and the like. But damnit, this I care about. I HATE how the MPAA rates things. Even more so after watching This Film Is Not Yet Rated (click on the link to see a trailer) and reading their MPAA time line online. So I ( Read more... )

I just read the Variety article you linked. It doesn't appear that the MPAA will really be revamping the ratings (sex will still be bad, graphic violence not so much, and the new hard R doesn't mean diddly squat if an adult accompanies the minor). They're just going to "educate" the public on the criteria for the ratings, because we're all to dumb to think for ourselves. Oh, and maybe they'll finally kick those parents with 30 year old children off the ratings board.

The ratings system is such total bullshit. It's censorship masking as morality. The financial reality of marketing a rated vs. unrated film does not make this a voluntary system at all, no matter what the MPAA says.

Can I just say "ditto" to yours and Loyals comments ? ;)

I really really hate it that you can show an awful lot of violence and no one bats an eye but hey PENIIIIIIS ! The sky is falling to our heads.....
