Silent Hill Movie Review -- finally

May 16, 2006 03:37

Well after putting this off for almost a month I figured I should sit down and finally put my two cents out there about the Silent Hill movie.  Although since I waited I've seen the movie twice in theaters and had a chance to talk to some of my friends that are into the games and get more of a handle on what I think ( Read more... )

No lead pipe? Awww!!! I'm taking it there was no katana either? That's SOOO my favorite weapon. Screw the handgun when you can just slash everything to death!

No worries, I haven't played Silent Hill 1 either, but like you, enough of it was explained for me in SH2 to know what went on.

Which game is your favorite? Mine's SH3. :D

Nope, no cool weapons. Pretty much you have Cybil with her gun and at one point Rose has a knife but loses it rather quickly after getting it.

Hmmm for favorite...I really liked Silent Hill 3, although I like a lot of the aspects of Silent Hill 2 as well. Silent Hill 4 didn't impress me as much, but then again I hate first person games. I like seeing my character on screen in more than the movie sequences. I'm really hoping the rumors of Silent Hill 5 being complete first person aren't true :P

*blinks* SH4 was an FPS? Ewww! I read the guide and didn't buy the game because it just looked boring. I mean, it's a room. You always have to go back to the room.

BORING!

SH3 is great though. I adore the reverse side. Did you ever go into that room (on the normal side) upstairs in the hospital and look at Heather's reflection?

Yeah SH4 has FPS, not all of it but whenever you're in the main characters apartment you are. It's kind of...annoying. I really hope they don't do SH5 like that :P

For the room are you talking about the one where the reflection starts bleeding and getting all messed up? Then yes :) I haven't played SH3 in ages so I don't remember what building it was but I did see a room like that. So completely nuts :D My friend was with me when I was playing and was freaking - very amusing ;)

Still haven't seen this, and I think I'll wait until it comes out on DVD. It's a shame Sean was under-used. :/

It's also a real shame the filmmakers didn't spring for new original score compositions for the movie. I'd read in another review that a lot of the music was straight out of the game, and that was bugging some folks who were familiar with the game.

Yep...will definitely wait for the DVD. Thanks for posting your review! *hugs*

*snuggles* Thanks for reading my review sweetie :) I do think there were a lot of shame points on the movie but it was interesting to see it on the big screen. I can definitely garantee when I have my hands on a DVD I'll be doing icons of a number of parts. And I keep telling myself that Sean's under use could come in handy if they do a sequel *pets Sean* :)
