New Audiobook Coming out in November

Well...I looked back a bit but didn't see anyone mentioning this recently.

So what do you all think of the new audiobook coming out in November? I've heard Martin Jarvis perform other audiobooks and i'm rather hopeful he'll do a good job...but i'm rather partial to the old version read by Stephen Briggs. Do you plan on buying it? Have you ( Read more... )

You know I used to have the whole thing uploaded. I will see if I still do.

Oh Briggs is AWESOME. He has seperate voices for every character and is just a jewel to listen to. His "Crowley" voice is pretty much how I hear Crowley in my head now whenever I re-read the book. It's just so much FUN. I usually listen to the audiobook and read the book at the same time.

I'll see what I can do about getting it uploaded (or finding the old links) again.

Crowley (ironically, given that I first became aware of this actor thanks to him playing Adrian Veidt in Watchmen, and the Crowley on the RP where I play Adrian makes a lot of snide comments about Adrian on a regular basis) sounds like this in my head:

Does either version come with a warning about being left in the car for a fortnight?

*LAUGH* No, but it totally should. I wouldn't know about the new version though since it isn't out yet. *shrug* Alas, they'd probably never think of something so clever anyway.

The first thing that sprang to mind is...how do they handle the footnotes? =o

Well in the first one (the one I have) Mr. Briggs just reads them right into the lines where they would be inserted. They make complete sense and he reads so well that the flow is not interupted. I think you'd be surprised how awesome it is. :)

THERE ARE MULTIPLE AUDIOBOOKS?! I MUST HAVE THEM ALL! (Although, tbh, I'm not that surprised, this book is the most amazing thing ever written. For real. I'll defend it to the death.)

This is bad for me to know though... because now I'll never listen to anything else in my car or when walking between classes. And I'll intentionally take forever to turn it off... So bad for productivity. *sighs* Just in time for school...

There are indeed multiple audiobooks, though the old one (Stephen Briggs) is technically "out of print" and the new one doesn't come out til November. I'm still looking through my old uploads to find the old one. I listen to it at work and get NOTHING done sometimes. :)

Any idea where would be a good place to look for the Briggs one?

Yeesh i'm not sure. I know that over at the audiobook community I saw it posted a long while back, but other than that i'm not really sure. I know for a fact that I couldn't even ORDER it when I went out to look for it.

However, don't give up hope with me just yet! I'm in the process of trying to find/upload the entire audiobook so that everyone can have a listen. :) I'll be posting again when/if I find it. :)

In the meantime if you have access to torrent you could probably find it there, or at the LJ audiobook community. You could request it if you like!
