I've been re-reading Good Omens. Thinking about what will happen if it ever gets to be movie. Will they decide to set in California as threatened? I hope not, to me this novel is as English Steak & Kidney pie. And will Johnny Depp be playing Crowley? Everyone whos read the book whom I know (about a sum total of four people) think He'd be perfect ( Read more... )

Probably as an appeal to "dumb americans" Who are seen as not being able to relate a story that happens to anyone in another country or a story with NO americans in it. (Like what they did to LXG, poor, poor little LXG)

A couple of days ago I decided that I want Ewan McGregor for Aziraphale. See my journal, also with a linked pic of him that is very Aziraphale I think.

> ... and Johnny... Johnny can pull off ANYTHING.

My thoughts exactly. ^^ And I've never even thought of him for Crowley.... *ash on my tomatoes* Shame that he seems to be out of it (as someone stated above).

Other than that, I've always imagined Crowley and Aziraphale to look mostly alike, like twins. Being essentially the same but from two different sides, sort of. *scratchhead*
So, if the actor can pull it off, why not have one do both.

Personally I'd love to see Depp do Crowley, although from what zarephathcs said, he probably won't. ^TT^ (He'd be so damn good at it!)

Hmm...This Kenneth Branagh you speak of intrigues me...-googles him- ^oo^ Oh my. Well then. Yesssss. :-3
Although I admit...if this Kenneth Branagh could not do Aziraphale, I would love for Paul Bettany to do it. X3

I'm probably the only one who does not want Johnny Depp to be casted as Crowley if there were to be a movie. I'm sorry, but he's not my vision of him and I just don't think Johnny will ever take on a role like that. I cannot even envision him in the role of Crowley despite how good people claim him to be. It's like the Johnny Depp would be so good as Sirius Black! arguments. It just...doesn't work. I'd much rather have someone I've never heard of as Crowley, personally. ^^;

I am so with you, and I hate when this conversation comes up. Johnny Depp has never even been on my short list for Crowley. I think Callum Blue would make an excellent Crowley, but I'd be happy to see any unknown or relative unknown. The character is too iconic among fans for an iconic actor to play him.

Sacreligious as this my seem to most of the fandom, I trust Terry Gilliam to figure out great casting and make it work in a good movie.

While Depp would be amazing as Crowley, I think I'm just really hung on on Adrian Brody playing him. I could just see Brody 'smiling like a snake' during the paintball bit. He just strikes me as the sort of guy who could pull that role off.

As for Aziraphale, I agree with the above posters that Branagh would be great for the role.

Adrian Brody is such an interesting choice!
You've really sparked some mental images here, thank you.

Hmmm Adrian Brody never thought of him. He might work, so might Jude Law.
