Alright, I need some help, people. At the age of 17, I've been asked to do my first ever book report on what I read over the summer. The only problem is that I didn't read anything extra-curricular over the summer. So I thought my best bet would be to do GO, and quite a few of you probably know it better than I do, as the last time I read it was ( Read more... )

essay, wank, do my schoolwork for me, snark

I'm sorry, but even if you're extremely busy (which I can sympathize with), I don't understand why you couldn't do such basic research on your own. It's not that hard to skim or finish a book in 4 nights, especially if you've read it before, and there's an abundance of GO fansites and resources online, as bunnygoeshop quickly demonstrated (what else is Google for?). I apologize if I come off sounding harsh, but asking others basically to do work for you never sits well with me, especially if you're seventeen years old, as you said.

That's nice. You try that.

I'm not 'basically asking others to do my work for me', I'm just asking for a few ideas. That's all.

There are plenty people "swamped in other work" who have the decency to do their own work. You are *17*, and despiet the fact that it's your first book report, I'd at least advise you to re-read the book yourself. If you can't figure out character profiles yourself, then obviously GO isn't your "best bet".

- take 10 minutes to google "neil gaiman".. he's modern and it shouldn't be that difficult
- ~_~
- get a copy of the book and figure it out-- you must at least have SOME recollection of the plot
- choose 5 pages at random and take 5 minutes to read
- you shouldn't even have to ask for this one

Good. Everything should take 30 minutes to sort out at most.

Your username is very apt.

As stated before, I have no time to re-read the book. I can figure out the character profiles, I was just asking for advice.

i think you, along with many other people have misinterpreted my username.

Didn't I just lay out a method for you to work out your book report in 30 minutes? Stop complaining about sparing 2-3 hours-- obviously the book report does NOT call for an entire re-read. This just shows your lack of time management skills and commitment to school work.

I'd even go as far as to contest your level of "swamped-ness". I'm sure I have even more work piled than you do, but I snatch time during school, car rides, bedtime... ANYTHING to get my ~1 book per day in (about 4-5 hours). Quit being so immature-- it's your fault you haven't read it.

May I third the lameness? I'm really sorry kid and I understand that you must be feeling the overload and 17 must put you in what? your senior year? I just don't think what you should try to get advice from people online on your book reports. if the necessity to get extra infromation is really wanted... spark note it but please if its a good book just reread it and do the assignment like most other kids.

A: Appalling. It’s not as if homework is assigned to punish, it’s to teach discipline and original thinking and the rewards of reading for its own sake…
C: Yes, yes. Psssst. Kid. I’ll help you out…for a price. Just write this: Good Omens is a dark and depressing work about the terrible inevitability of a painful death in the Soviet gulag, with its only glimpse of hope and redemption being the hot orgy scene on page 784 ( ... )

A: That’s no good. All the great teachers say that all you can do is guide a student to the experience. It’s just that Madame Blavatsky did it in very huge volumes. Ooh, is that a ley line?

LOL! Have you ever read Madame Blavatsky? What she invents about Tibetan Buddhism (because Tibet was fair game back -- No One knew much about it) is particularly funny.

Hey! Maybe the book report kid can write about Madame Blavatsky! Or do what the rest of did in high school: read something quickly the weekend before the report is due and write about that.

Speed-skimming is the ticket. (First three chapters, three chapters in the middle, and the last three chapters).

Check this out:

This is one of my favorite parts. I love this book. Sometime I'll have to scan the inside of mine and post it. It's signed by both writers. I forget who wrote what, but one signed "burn this book" and the other wrote "apply sacred match here."
