Desire was mostly female that day, and Desire was Fanny, and when Desire knelt by the poet’s bed, the poet whimpered in pain or longing or both.

I'm so struck by that line. I had a seminar last semester that focused on the works of Keats and Shelley, and we read a good number of Keats's letters, some of which were written to Fanny.

And let us not forget the fragment that was probably his very last,

This living hand, now warm and capable...

I'm glad something stuck with you :) We just did Keats in my English class, so I've had the poetry!fetish on the brain. I don't actually know many details about his life, besides the basics, so I hope there wasn't anything in there that was glaringly wrong ;)

I love Keats.

And I love this fic.

Methinks my memories are going to have a new addition tonight...

That was beautiful, though I didn't understand who was being referred to there. Care to explain?

I was referring to Sandman: Season of Mists, in which Lucifer shuts up Hell and gives the key to Dream. Eventually Dream passes the key on to two angels, Remiel, Who Is Set Above Those Who Rise, and Duma, angel of silence. Sorry about the confusion, and thanks a lot for commenting!
