hey i found your lj through the newest wrinkle! (so i hope that takes away the creep-ness of this comment) i see that a lot of your clothes are from thrift stores..where do you go in chicago? i am considering u of chicago as one of my grad school options and i don't know anything about the area so i'd appreciate any information i can get with weather, shopping, places to hang out, etc etc. let me know!
i go everywhere really. there is a chain of thrift stores thats all over chicago called village discount outlet. there's special locations, but i have been recently going to the southside (people rarely have my taste down there so things are always there). when it comes to weather, be prepared! the springs and summers are always awesome but winter is always unpredictable. i always carry around an umbrella because you never know when its going to rain. theres many places to hang out, wicker park/logan square and pilsen are where the young bunches live though. parties galore, especially in the summer! hope thats some help some but ask away if you have anything else in mind!
thanks for helping! i love shopping in areas where people have different tastes.. i get all the good stuff..ie. i have size 8/9 feet so i get the good shoes when everyone's 6 and 7's are sold out haha. is the snow and cold unbearable? or is it more like running out to the grocery store only and holing up in your apartment the rest of the week because it's so cold? i am from orange county, california but i am willing for climate change. one area of concern for me is the safety. how is it down there? i hear there's a lot of mugging and rape :( but i honestly don't know because it's a mix of hearsay. i plan on visiting chicago this summer though so if you are bored and want to create some sort of intinerary of hot spots for me to locate and stop by that would be awesome.
