Sarah and Zack are 20 months apart. I won't lie, there is an adjustment phase, the first 3 months-ish are challenging and you feel touched out often, but the tandeming more often than not does help them bond together and not be as jealous (you are planning to tandem right? I think I remembered that correctly)
It's still a babymoon though, especially those precious hours in the evening when one is asleep and the little new bundle is just content in your arms and you have a moment to breath and be taken away by each of them. Moments like those stay with you much more than the challenges. I look at some photos I have of Zack and Sarah when she was a newborn and I swoon. They were really both like babies to me then.
That said though I was fiercely protective of my newborn around my son, I think that is normal and healthy and is meant to make sure the younger sibling has the gentleness and protection needed while they grow slowly independent. Now that they are both older I feel like they are pretty much on even footing again.
I am planning on tandem nursing. I'm honestly terrified but hope that it all just happens as it's supposed to and comes naturally. Joey is all up in the na-nas lately. We were down to just once or twice a day so I'm not sure what's up with that. He's also refusing to sleep in his bed all of a sudden.
You should give me your email address so I can ask you 75846486 questions when they arise. You're my only toddler/newborn tandem mama on my list so I might as well save my fpage ;)
I wanna be your friend in real life. It's really hard for me to check lj lately ... my baby is almost 3 months! I have some used and slightly used (like for a week) cloth diaper covers if you'd like to have them. My chunky girl has already outgrown the 10-15lbs ones. Email me - holli.margell at gmail.com and we can figure out a day to meet before your baby arrives.

Zack has gone down to once a day at least 3 times since I was pregnant, and every time he bounces back and wants it again.

Also, do you need or want some baby girl clothes?
