This is one of my all-time favorite myths. I think the final stanza here is gorgeous and really fits the story.

Thanks so much! I was kind of ambivalent about the last stanza, so that's good to hear.

Funny story: I didn't start writing this poem intending it to be about Persephone at all. I was trying to capture a particular quality of an emotion, a kind of satisfied or pleased sadness, a happy melancholy, and she just showed up.
