Through all of this story, the main feeling was Sam's fear of losing Dean. It was there in the taking care of Dean's leg, it was there in the diner, and it was even there in their lovemaking. It gave the story such an exquisite feeling of breathlessness and desperate hope, as if Sam didn't dare to hope and yet had no idea how to let go of that hope, because if he did, he'd lose everything. It was a wonderful portrait of pre-deal!Sam and of a Dean who was trying to let Sam take what he needed.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the story. And, you found more in it than I had hoped to include. I love the idea of Sam and his fear of losing Dean, and Dean understanding, without either of the characters having any conscious awareness of that fact.
